I'm Back

Saturday, May 26, 2007

We're back from our short vacation in Hong Kong! It was fun, but very tiring because of the heat. It's even hotter there compared to the Philippines. Before we left, we checked on the weather in the internet and it said there would be scattered thunderstorms. My heart sank, coz you do a lot of walking and it's too much of a hassle going around when it's raining. And there goes our shopping! Thank God it didn't!

We stayed at Holiday Inn Golden Mile in Nathan Road, TST. The kids said that Hong Kong is like the Philippines, but much neater. But Philippines smells lovelier. You know why? While walking along Nathan Road, all you could smell is body odor to the max...really i'm not kidding. If only we could hold our breath while walking the stretch of Nathan Road, we'd do that. Josh even asked me, "Mom, do they ever know the meaning of deodorants?" There was even a time I heard my son say "hey dude! do you know what a deodorant is?" I just had to stop him if we don't want to end up with a fight with somebody. Josh just couldn't stand the smell, neither do we, but then again, what the heck, we are there to enjoy.

We all enjoyed taking the MTR, especially during rush hours. We just blended with the crowd. The kids were amused with the octopus card, I was too. It's just fun swinging your bag on top of the sensor! We also enjoyed the food, even if we had to line up for more than fifteen minutes. We even had to line up for more than an hour just to be able to eat in this japanese restaurant, and it was really worth it, the best i've tasted so far. Disneyland was so-so. We were kinda disappointed, it was small, and looked a bit dry. It's just different. There were like 4 mascots only and not much rides....arrggghhhh! But it was a nice experience riding in a disney inspired train. The Peak was amazing and breathtaking! I've been to Hong Kong a lot of times already, but this my first at The Peak. My jaw dropped at the sight of the view, it was awesome! And shopping, oh yes SHOPPING! It was great! I was able to buy items that I really wanted. N bought me a new laptop, a belated and advance birthday (40th & 41st) and 15th year anniversary present in one. I chose the same brand as my old one, the ever dependable Compaq. It's a Presario V6000 but we added another 512 mb RAM, and upgraded it to Multi DVD +/- RW. I'm so happy with my new toy.

Take Notice of these CooL Tees

Monday, May 21, 2007

It's just so cool for these team of graphic designers to come up with graphic/illustrated T-shirt for everybody who likes to feel and look good. Their designs are inspired by everyday life and everything that surrounds it, and more particularly based on the latest world of fashion and trends.

Check our their gorgeous hot collection, a celebration of Beauty, Women and Style. Their designs are simple and pleasant to look at, but at the same time it says something loud and clear. How would you like going around in a simple tee with designs that match your attitude towards life? Do you love rock? Do you feel like a queen? Do you go for Japanese inspired prints? Do you consider yourself a hot and sexy chic? Are you a beach babe? Well if you are, go shout it out to the whole world by wearing a simple yet cool T-shirt.

Not only that, they have a wide range of designs to choose from. And since they are graphic designers, they communicate through signs and images. Expect a T-shirt that’s full of shapes and colors merged into something communicative. Tees that will make you think when you see them or tees that are simply understandable.

This T-shirt is made from 100% fine cotton jersey, in different colors and styles. My personal favorite is from their dream collection, and the Japanese style from the gorgeous collection. Come on, check it out now, and see what T-shirt I’m talking about.

Names...and their Meaning

Sunday, May 20, 2007

Shern's Mom tagged me on the meaning of my children's names.

I was not even married yet, much less pregnant when I thought of the names I would give my future children. One thing I made sure, I'd like them to have names found in the Bible. I'm named Mirriam (thanks to the employee who misspelled my name when she typed it in my application for birth certificate). It's supposedly Miriam. (Miriam - the sister of Moses)

I have not really thought of the meaning of the names I picked, I just liked the sound of it combined with the names I got from the Bible. I had to google it just to be able to come up with this tag. At least I learned something today ^_^

PATRICIA LOUISE

Patricia - pronounced as pa-TRISH-ah, it is of latin origin and the meaning is of noble descent.
Louise
- pronounced as loo-EEZ, it is of old german origin and the meaning is renowned fighter.

JOSHUA MARTIN

Joshua - pronounced as JOSH-yoo-ah, it is of Hebrew origin, and the meaning is "Jehovah saves"

Martin - pronounced as MART-en, it is of latin origin and the meaning is warlike

Hmmm...now I'd like to know the meaning of your children's names so I'm tagging:

1. CUZ
2. FRANCESCA
3. MommyBa

Happy happy birthday to one of my dearest bestfriends ANGIE!

Dance...Dance...Dance

Thursday, May 17, 2007

Man! We are dead tired! We danced practically for 6 hours yesterday...the longest. We are preparing for tomorrow's dance recital which will be featured in GMA's Unang Hirit. I don't know how we can dance that early. Regine said our call time is around 5 in the morning, and that means we have to be up at around 3? No way! Honestly I don't know how we're gonna do it.

I'm happy that Ish is dancing with me. She only started in May and she's joining the recital. She was able to memorize the 3 dance routines in like 5 sessions, and to think that she doesn't have a background in belly dancing. She still has to learn the basic. Too bad school starts in June and she can no longer join us.

Football Jerseys

Wednesday, May 16, 2007

Can you imagine playing football in pants and jersey made from canvas? Oh yes, knee length pants, loose and heavy, and a top that is usually long sleeved secured by laces in front. This was the football uniform back in the 1800s. But in the early 1900s, canvas was replaced by cotton. The players no longer experienced being soaked and feeling heavy from playing in hot and sweaty sun. Shifting to cotton allowed more freedom of movement. It was also during this time that the evolution of football paddings begun, to make it safer especially when falling. Through the years, much improvements were made. Different types of materials were discovered, mostly light-weight fabrics, a far cry from the canvas of the 1800s.

Today’s football jerseys are designed with the special needs in mind of the players. They use only the most durable fabrics, and patterns are constructed with the awareness of the special equipment that the sport requires. And not only that, they provide maximum comfort and freedom of movement.

Football jerseys come in different styles and colors. They are really attractive, and they’ve got style, they are made with comfort and performance in mind. This is what a great uniform consist of.

If you’re thinking about letting your children or members of your family play football, consider these jerseys. It’s cool!

Bits and Pieces

Friday, May 11, 2007

If you noticed lately, I have been including sponsored posts in my blog. And i'm happy to share that the two posts i've written have been approved. Well I'm just waiting for them to mail my check (i'll keep you posted). Since I have been endorsing a lot of products here in my site, I thought why not get paid. The funny thing when it's a sponsored post, I find myself in front of the laptop longer than my usual almost everyday posts. Sometimes I just find it hard to endorse products, or talk about a certain sites. There are actually a lot of sponsored posts that you can take, but then again it's very hard to write about things that you can't relate to. If I get my first check in the amount of US$55, I promised myself to get a dot com, now isn't that cool ^_^

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My daughter Ish decided to join me in my belly dancing class. The first time I brought her there, she had second thoughts of joining. But she made up her mind one day and now we belly dance together. I bought her two sets of costumes in Divisoria for her to use on the 18th for another recital. I was thinking of making her one, but I just don't have the time to do it. I don't wanna feel stressed out just like the last time. I know it's my fault coz I'm fond of doing things at the last minute. And yeah, I don't think her Dad will allow her to use those bra type tops that I normally go for. Now is that an excuse? ^_^
Cuz has been sharing with me this Korean brand of makeup called The Face Shop since last year. I didn't have the time to check it out until last Tuesday when my SIL invited me to go to Serendra. I bought their eye and lips makeup remover. It's oil free and alcohol free. I think I like it, it's not harsh even if a little goes into your eye. I also bought their pink lipstick.
Looking Forward to Halloween
Wednesday, May 09, 2007
Halloween is one of the traditions that me and my kids look forward to. Do you know why? We all get excited thinking about what to wear. Yeah you might say that halloween is still a few months away, October 31st to be exact (as if you don't know ^_^ bleh). But did you know that right after we do trick or treating, we are already thinking of what to wear for next year's halloween. That's how big a deal it is coz we find halloween really fun, a different kind of bonding for us.
Since we think of wearing different Costumes each time, it has been a big burden looking for the next costume to wear. The malls that we have here has very limited designs to choose from. Chances are you get to bump with someone wearing the same costume as you. It ain't cool, right?
Well anyway, buying online is very "in" nowadays. It saves you a lot of time going to the malls and having to spend on gas. And sometimes buying online is a lot cheaper. So if I were you, you gotta check out the Costumes here. They have a wide range of unimaginable costumes for kids and adults. They have like more than 14,000 costumes to choose from. And not only that, they also offer costumes and costume accessories for nearly every holiday or event. It's more like a one-stop-shop if you are looking for costumes to wear.
Takatak Queen
Friday, May 04, 2007
Oh yes I'm the "Takatak Queen" in the kitchen, "takatak" meaning I put in a dash of herbs and spices to what i'm cooking (it's more like open a bottle of thyme and "taktak" in the pan ^_^ ) And did you know that I'm not one who measures ingredients? N has been constantly reminding me to write down how much of these and that did I put for a certain recipe, so the taste would be consistent, and he always says who knows one day you're gonna put up a restaurant. And did I buy that? Nope! Me and my stubborn self, or is it more like lazy? I always have a ready answer for it. I only cook for the family and more or less I know how much to put in every recipe.
So here is my recipe in photos of Prawns in Lemon Butter Sauce. (Go figure how much to "taktak") Click on the photos to enlarge
the ingredients
don't throw away the shrimp heads, they're yummy
Note: the hungry people in the dining table could not wait for me to get a fresh battery for my camera so I will be able to take a shot of the cooked prawns. All I hear is "hhhmmm...Mom, this is so yummy". Shhhh, just between you and me, Josh finished 9, and Ish about 5. N had 3 only, but almost finished all the heads (he knows how to pick the yummiest). This recipe goes well with garlic rice.
"Ebayer" I Am!
Tuesday, May 01, 2007
I've been going to Ebay a lot lately, coz i'm thinking of setting up an online store. It's like shall it be on Ebay or a sister site of this blog. And while at Ebay, I couldn't stop myself from browsing/viewing items that were being sold and auctioned. I ended up buying 2 havaianas. The beige one I already got, i'm still waiting for the navy blue one probably tomorrow. I think this is from the 2007 collection, i've already checked in shops selling havaianas and I haven't seen this style yet. Correct me if i'm wrong. I just don't know why I go gaga over these havaianas, probably because it's comfortable, or should I say stylish...BOTH! Check out the LATEST STYLES and start drooling ^_^
Honestly, it took me a couple of days contemplating whether or not to buy things at Ebay, but I did...how will I find out if it's ok or not if I don't try. At least for now, all my worries are gone, and it took only 1 transaction to erase whatever negativity there is.
