Validity of the Green Passport

Monday, August 23, 2010

All four of us are holders of the green Philippine Passports (non-machine readable passport). The kids' passports are already expired and I am renewing it. Now I heard from someone that the validity of the green passport is an issue. Some say that there are countries that will not honor it. I went to the DFA (Department of Foreign Affairs) website to check on it's validity. And this is what I got. "All green passports (non-machine readable passports) will be valid until the stated date of expiry." If this is the case, no country should turn away green passport holders when trying to enter their country. This was made clear by DFA by issuing that statement I quoted.

I went ahead and applied online for the kids' passport renewal. They are scheduled to go to DFA on October 13 yet and it's only August 23rd now. Whoa is that how much Filipinos want to travel outside the country? It will take 10 days if you opt for the rush renewal and 20 days if you go for the regular one. Of course if you choose rush, there is an additional fee on top of the regular processing fee which is not really that big.

If Malaysia can issue passports within the day, why can't our government do the same? Can someone please tell me?

Wednesday, October 01, 2008

Wow! This is nice, actually I love the idea of new credit card blog. Whoever put this up, kudos to you. They gave a rundown based on credit card satisfaction study. With too much banks offering credit cards, it's hard to decide which one to get. But with a study like this, it becomes easier. It will give you an idea on what these credit card has to offer. What I love about it is I don't need to go to each credit card's websites individually. It's all listed in one website, which is awesome!

On Weight Loss

I've been told time and again to read reviews of weight loss pills before trying to decide on which one to use. Not that I need to use one at the moment, but my friends hear me talk about it all the time. Yeah I'm being conscious lately, well who wants to put on weight, right? Honestly, as much as possible I don't want to resort to taking those pills but who knows once I get frustrated, I'll end up taking one. At least I know of a website that does reviews of all these popular brands. I will have an idea on what is effective and what is a just the product of media hype.

Debt Collection Agency

Friday, August 22, 2008

I know of some business owners who have a hard time collecting. At one point, it has become our problem too. Business owners are taken for granted when it comes to collection. But when it comes to these commercial collection agencies doing the collecting, most often than not they are successful. We should have hired their services instead of us doing the collecting. It is such a tedious job and sometimes we end up fighting with our clients. Much as we want to be professional about it, the thing is stress gives in leaving us without any choice but end up not in speaking terms with clients. Worst scenario would be filing a case against them. One thing I've noticed too, when it's the collection agency, clients pay more attention.

Free Medical Software

Tuesday, June 17, 2008

I wonder if my cousin has a free medical palm software loaded on her PDA. I haven't gotten to ask her, although I see that she has a PDA. Most doctors are tech savvy nowadays, so I guess Epocrates Medical Reference Software is nothing new to the anymore. I see a few doctors bring with them huge books for reference, but instead I always see them tapping on the screen of their smartphones. This software is really very helpful. They can easily access the information they need especially when prescribing medicines. There is no need to leaf through the pages of thick books just to be able to get the information they need. Everything is just a tap away.

Cleaner Air

Sunday, May 25, 2008

When the kids were younger, they had all sorts of allergies. I even had to resort to having an air purifier at home. It was actually suggested by a friend of mine because her kids had allergies too. It was effective, ever since I had it at home the allergies were minimized. Had the situation worsened, I don't have any other choice but to maintain it. But this time I want an Austin Air air purifiers. I like the specifications. It can both be for allergen relief and chemical sensitivities. Sometimes we do not know what causes the allergies.

I Need an Upgrade Pronto!

Saturday, May 03, 2008

Now this is what I need, a laptop memory upgrade. Attaching my external hard drive to the USB slot can get pretty tiring if I do it every now and then. I want something built-in this time. No wonder the speed on my computer is slowing down, too much files and uploads since I am lazy to transfer it to the external hard drive. This will be my next project, and I hope this will not be set aside for another project.

Lasik for the Kids

I've been contemplating on Lasik, well not for myself, I don't need it yet but for my 2 kids. They have been wearing eyeglasses since they were young. I know wearing eyeglasses is such a bother, this is the reason why you seldom see me wearing eyeglasses. We've actually discussed it already and we think they are too young to have it just yet. Maybe when they are about 18, this is the time we will have them undergo lasik. And I think someone has to be 18 to be able to undergo this procedure, although I heard of some younger than 18 who already had lasik.

No More Annoying Calls

Tuesday, April 29, 2008

I have this habit of not answering phone calls especially if I don't recognize the number. I think most of us do. And the number one reason is avoiding telemarketers. Come on admit it. I do get annoyed answering calls from telemarketers because they just wouldn't give up. There is actually a solution for this. If you want to find out who's calling, just run Reverse Phone Lookups. It works whether a phone number is listed or not. Now you have a way of finding out who's calling you. Ooops, I almost forgot. You can also register your phone number at National No Call Registry so that your numbers will be erased from the database telemarketers have. This is absolutely a free service.

Your Drug Guide Software

Saturday, April 26, 2008

Really? Doctors go mobile now? Like how? I read in a website that there is a drug guide for blackberry. That's what most doctors have now, and they look like geeks. No more big and heavy books for a drug guide. It's all in their PDAs. Don't be surprised if you see your doctor consult his blackberry once you ask for a prescription. Yes, the drug guide is all there in that smart phone. And mind you, the software is free. Ah no wonder almost all doctors have it in their smart phones. Isn't it cool to see your doctor turn into a doctor-geek?

Saturday, April 12, 2008

The need for a sonography technician is becoming higher. I've read in the internet that the demand for sonography tech will rise in the coming years because patients seek for safer treatment options and this is an alternative for radiology treatments. There are even school grants being offered. And since the demand is becoming higher each year, compensation gets competitive. An average sonographer can earn $40,000-$50,000 a year. If you are interested in becoming a sonographer, check out the sonography schools near your area(there are also online colleges and you can check out their online degree programs. You can be one in two years.

Adult Diapers

Tuesday, April 08, 2008

When my Dad was still alive, my Mom made him use diapers. You see he was kinda bedridden already because of his sickness. My Mom would always change the brand of his diapers because she was not satisfied with the ones he was using. Finally she was able to find the Adult Diapers she was looking for and from then on she never changed brands. It never caused soreness nor rashes, and it was absorbent she says. My dad never felt uncomfortable in it and he can sleep the night through. You see it is very important to find the best diaper, as there are a lot of things to take in consideration. Wearing a diaper is not comfortable enough, what more if you don't find the best one.

Train to be a Pharmacy Technician

Wednesday, April 02, 2008

Look at this... a pharmacy technician salary is somewhere around $9-$12 an hour...not bad huh, and I read too that the demand is really high. I also read that they pay higher if the pharmacy technician has a certificate, meaning he/she has to go to a school that offers a short course on being a pharmacy tech. It is very important that pharmacy technicians are properly trained, after all we rely on them for all the prescribed medicines we purchase.

Fashion Design

Tuesday, April 01, 2008

I wonder what fashion jobs my favorite designers had before they became big. I bet after they graduated from these fashion schools, they were able to find a job right away, probably assistants to more famous fashion designers. Here they will be able to hone their talents more before becoming big in their fashion careers. There are actually a lot of good fashion designers behind famous brands, and some of them are just fresh out of the fashion schools they attended. Now I remember one of my favorite tv shows, Project Runway. I wonder which fashion schools those competitors went to. They are darn good!

But I think I am too old to go back to school? But then again come to think of it, nobody's too old to go to school. Hhhmm, let me check the other tech schools.

Optimum Insurance Coverage

Saturday, March 15, 2008

I used to be turned off by insurance offers, until a broker explained the whole thing to me. I remember backing off all the time when I hear the word insurance and I would always excuse myself. Good thing a family friend of ours have explained the whole idea and how important it is to have insurance, be it for yourself, your homes, your cars and for the business. Now I see the need of having Commercial Insurance. It is the only optimum cover for your business. You wouldn't want all your investments put to waste in case something happens right? It's too painful losing a business just like that, without getting something. But if you have it covered, it's very easy to recover and start all over again. And that's the beauty of having an insurance. Home insurance is very important too. Imagine spending your life paying for the cost of the house, and suddenly it gets caught in fire. These are unforeseen circumstances and it pays to be ready. It will definitely help someone to move on. There is another insurance that I find very important too. I always see to it that our vehicles have insurances. When you are in the streets, even if you were trained to drive carefully, there are crazy drivers everywhere and that's a given already. Again it's important to get covered. You will never know what will happen next.
