A Beauty Parlor At Home

Saturday, January 29, 2005

Saturday was supposed to be a work day for me...we had a coverage but i begged off...the reason? a harder work...I REBONDED MY DAUGHTER'S HAIR...i know, i know, i should leave it with the pro, but feeling pro that i am, i started working on her hair at 3 pm...having my hair rebonded 3 times already, more or less i knew the process...so that gave me the confidence to do it myself...

a long process indeed...shampoo hair, dry it 75%, apply treatment 1 for about 30 mins...rinse...dry 75%, iron hair as in paper thin...put treatment 2 for about 15 mins...rinse...dry 75%, iron hair...put treatment 3 for about 30 mins...rinse...dry 75%...iron...waaaaahhh...took us til 1 am to finish...yes, am not kidding as in 10 long hrs...geez double the hour you spend in the parlor...but at the end of it...i feel accomplished...tired and got a little impatient too...thought i would pass out...hehe...will i do it again? of course i would...i'd be saving a lot...and we're talking about 4,000 pesos here...i could use it to buy...ehem...

attention: calling all shampoo companies

The Soap

Wednesday, January 26, 2005

I remember Mom's story about this soap...during the war Mom and my Aunt(Ate Marie's Mom) would stock loads and loads of this...now you know why we are vain...it's in the blood...haha

Maja, with its classic fragrance of rose, jasmine and other flowers is unchanged after 100 years -- it even contains some olive oil as did classic castile soaps of hundreds of years ago...created an elegant red and black wrapping for the smaller cakes of Maja soap that shows a beautiful seƱorita (or maja) coquettishly fanning herself. The large cakes are covered by pleated black paper that is now shaped by machine. Any room in which you place this 100% pure bar of soap will be filled with a mysterious fragrance. And when you use this refreshing bar, you will feel so refreshed and special.

I'm just so happy that I found this soap in the shelves of Mercury Drug...now there's no need for my Mom to order in the States...my sister usually orders online whenever Mom runs out of it...i used to use them too when i was still at my mom's house until the time you can't find it in the shelves...im just so glad now that it's available here once again...

Still the Best...or is it I Remember the Boy

Tuesday, January 25, 2005

I am so fond of grilled chicken that everytime i see a restaurant whose specialty is grilled chicken, i usually try it out...and this one restaurant that i keep coming back to is Chicken Bacolod...in my opinion, they serve the best chicken inasal and garlic rice...

Back in the 90s (yikes...super long ago), i remember him surprising me with lunch visits while i was still working at PNB and we'd go to Chicken Bacolod...and i remember that it's the same chicken inasal i had on my wedding day before the preparations...

So I therefore conclude that Chicken Bacolod serve the best chicken inasal...and yes, I remember the boy...

2 guys holding hands

Sunday, January 23, 2005

I just can't help the craving i had for Seattle's Best Carbonara a while back...since Nelson didn't want to go with me, I asked my "girl" Elma to go with me instead...now i'm satisfied...yehey...

Anyways, i was kinda shocked when i saw these group of guys sitting across us...two of them holding hands (discreetly??? they were hiding it under the table)...i know, i know it's none of my business...but i just can't help looking...hehe...and maybe they know for a fact too that what they are doing is not really accepted by the society yet, otherwise it wouldn't be done in hiding...right?

An Unexpected Family Reunion

We normally have our family reunion on Christmas and New Year...but since my Auntie Becky (wife of my dad's brother) arrived from the US, Auntie Glory and Uncle Ben decided to host a family get-together...it was held at her house...too bad my Dad and Mom couldn't make it due to my dad's condition...right after lunch, we all headed to Kidney Institute (by batch) to be with my dad...

Auntie Glo, Auntie Becky and her sister

Aleli, Atchi Arne, Sherwin, me, Toto, Nelson, Kuya Ed and Atchi Lee (my cousins...Dad's side)

I just love how the family gets together...a lot of stories to tell, a lot of catching up to do...kids had a grand time too...boys decided to stay at the master's bedroom playing video games and the girls (just 3 of them) at the swing sound tripping...it's just wonderful to be with family once again...

The Scene Reminded me to....

Saturday, January 22, 2005

My heart really broke when i saw these group of people waiting at the entrance of National Kidney and Transplant Institute for their names to be called for hemodialysis...it was really a pity...you see them patiently waiting, the others have fallen asleep in wheelchairs...others arriving as early as dawn just to be able to get a slot...and the hospital can only accommodate as much charity cases...not a sight to behold...

My Dad is having his first hemodialysis today...yep, it's his first, considering the fact that we had the preparation (fistula) as early as year 2000...he is now confined at the hospital simply because his case is quite complicated...he has been in and out of the hospital lately...i hope everything will work out with God's grace and I'm claiming His victory...

With the scene and everything, this made me think really hard...you see i'm a shop til you drop person, like there is no tommorrow...it hasn't even cross my mind, i may be well today, but will i be tommorrow? i don't wanna be one of "them"...an awakening indeed!

Has it been one of the gang's new year's resolution to watch movies every now and then? Nah, it's just that after we watch a movie, the question pops up...so what's next? This is our way of bonding...and it's fun...an inexpensive way to bond...

A Beanbag Body

Wednesday, January 19, 2005

I've purchased this program from Marie-France in October of 2003, which up to this date i haven't finished...you see, i may look thin but i have problem areas such as my tummy and back...yes, those stubborn fats...arggghhh! after so much follow up from Marie-France peeps, i decided to go today...they gave me a welcome treatment which is endermologie...it's like a non-surgical lipo...boy was it painful, especially in the problem areas...i could only go as high as 5 in tolerance, but it was relaxing though at the back, pretty like a massage... then i went through this fat burning blah blah, i don't really know what it's called, felt like i was electricuted...and while my body have adjusted to it, almost dozed off...and last was the coldest body wrap on earth...was freezing, even requested for a hot bag...oh well, all in the name of vanity...haha...i wish i could go on a regular basis to be able to see some results...with a disgusting body like this, I SHOULD!

Cooking Skills...Improving

Monday, January 17, 2005

Since I work mostly on weekends and occassionally on weekdays, i've been trying to improve on my cooking...Patricia even told me at dinner that they get to taste different kinds of recipes now...actually, i get my inspiration from the foodblogs i frequently visit, and seeing Nelson and Daddy Groovy (my father-in-law) enjoying the food i serve them...it's also my way of saying thank you to my FIL who has been supervising the house we are building...

the construction started 1st week of January...i've been busy surfing the net for some ideas for our kitchen, bath, closets, etc. I'd really appreciate it if you could share with me some cool sites that you know of...

Movie...Again?

Saturday, January 15, 2005

There was no plan at all to watch a movie...but at the last minute, again the gang decided to watch...this time with the "minus one"...(and plus 1 because her hubby tagged along)...The movie to watch was Kungfu Hustle...originally we were supposed to leave the kids at Timezone while we (the adults) watch...but when they heard that it was Kungfu Hustle, they decided to come with us...there were 10 of us who watched...it was one funny movie from beginning to end...very hilarious...the cinematography was great! My kids didn't have a hard time understanding it since they understand a bit of Mandarin and Fookien (although there was a subtitle)...

here i am in a cheerleader outfit (haha) ready to cheer for the kungfu masters...go,go,go! fight, fight, fight!!! (yikes!)

A Movie Treat It Was

Wednesday, January 12, 2005

After going thru all the hardships of renewing permits and paying taxes, the gang decided to catch a movie...again minus one (and again and again...heehee)...anyways, this time we decided to watch over at greenbelt 3 (we always frequent theatermall and podium)...and the movie to watch was Blade Trinity...twas a full packed movie, action, horror, adventure, name it...everything was there...well almost...again Wesley Snipes didn't fail me...i sooooo like him, always moving with grace...i envy the body of Jessica Biel...wowoweeeee...i love the muscles and the cuts in the arms...even told Cuz to give me two years to have an arms like hers...and i had an instant CRUSH in the person of Ryan Reynolds...isn't he cute??? we were all happy with the movie...and too glad to have made the decision of watching the film...

And yeah...this is one funny thing that happened...before the start of the movie, we bought some food stuffs...i had popcorn and strawberry lemonade while CUZ had popcorn too and SOY ICE CREAM...i haven't tasted soy ice cream in my whole life, so i asked her if i could have some...and you know what she did? geez...you can just imagine how small the spoon is, and she filled it with just 1/4 of it (not even)!!!so now can i say that i've tasted it? the answer is a big NO...how could you?...poor me...huhuhu

This is the ice cream i was talking about...thanks for the pics Cuz...

Not A Bad Day After All

Tuesday, January 11, 2005

I started early today to pay our taxes and renew our business permit...yes it's the time of the year...and it sucks!!! Went to the barangay to get a clearance but was asked to come back for it late afternoon...grrrrr...well i can't do anything about that...so i decided to pay taxes so as not to waste my time...geeezzz, these people from City Hall really suck!...just imagine i was there at 10:30 in the morning and got my assessment at 6 pm? why are they giving the taxpayers a hard time? to think that they get their salaries from us? F*@%ing S%@t really...

On the brighter side, SM Manila was just across City Hall...so i had my share of shopping...YES!...was able to buy a denim skirt which i really liked...actually i bought 2 denim skirts for myself...but when i got home and my daughter saw it, she wanted to have both...poor me...but i only gave her 1...hehe...but promised her that i'm gonna get her another one when i go back on thursday...yup, Patricia is just half size smaller than me...

Another bright side...Nelson liked the beef sukiyaki i made...before i left home, i prepared the soup stock and continued cooking when i got home...even the kids liked it (or is it because i was the one who cooked? and they don't have any other choice but to like it?)...but i'm happy really that i get appreciated...

While i was checking on my comment section of my blog, i heard someone say...hey mom, you look like belong to the future in that pic...referring to my pic with my huge camera...and looking at you now, you seem to belong to pre-historic age...arrgghhh...stone age eh! but whatever he meant by that, id like to believe that i look like Eve...hehe...and yes that was my son JOSH!

My Daughter Is Now A Blogger...Cool

Saturday, January 08, 2005

Isn't it cool? My Daughter PATRICIA has a blog of her own. What made me happy was her own initiative of having one. At first her Dad wasn't keen on the idea, but after telling him that his daughter's writing skills will be honed, we got his go signal.

Twas a day of tutorials for my daughter...taught her the ins and outs of blogging...so even without me, she can manage. I was happy with the results...now she knows how to tweak around her template (of course with my supervision)...

Now i'm looking forward to her entries...

TGIF

Friday, January 07, 2005

It's gonna be a fruitful week for me...it started with a wedding coverage...two in a row...twas supposed to be a week of wedding coverages, with just a one day break, but something came up (for me)...nobody would bring the kids to school...so i took the task of driving for them, wednesday til friday...and it means only one thing...boring...boring in the sense that you don't do anything while waiting for them...how could you, it was sooooo hot...as i've mentioned in my past entry, parking is so hard that we had to stay in school the whole day...kids were happy that i was with them coz it's eat all they want (now i'm broke)...

I was looking forward to friday...yes it's TGIF...went to watch Ocean's 12 with cuz and the rest of the gang minus one...haha...ssshhhh...we didn't tell her our plans, since we were sick and tired of her presence and everything...bad? of course not...if you know what i mean...

Cuz and i agreed that something was wrong with Matt Damon, (you can't exactly tell he's good looking and all) and kept figuring out what it was...must be the eyes?
