Count Your Blessings

Monday, September 10, 2007

I am very happy with the turn out of my "career". I have so much blessings to thank the Lord for. Opps keep on coming (as if you didn't notice, hehe). And the good news is, I have received an email from one of the companies I signed up for, informing me that my posts have been automatically approved based on high quality performance as a Postie. There's actually 2 more companies who's been doing that to all the posts I write for them. You see, I've been spending time trying to promote adverts to the best that I can, and I have been rewarded. It encourages me all the more to give quality to each sponsored post I do. I know some of you are disappointed seeing lots and lots of adverts, but sometimes these adverts come in handy, it makes us aware of some things around us. I myself have learned a lot from all the information given, and I know I can make use of all these information in the near future.

In My Beautiful Top

Sunday, September 09, 2007

Remember the cloth? Yes it’s the same cloth worn by Ish during her grandpa’s 90th birthday. I like the color a lot, so with the bead details, that I bought an extra 2 meters just to have this top sewn. I wore this yesterday at the two wedding coverages we had. Everyone said it was pretty. Just between you and me, I copied the design from one of the top designers from eluxury.com. I am happy how it turned out, just the way it is. Again, I want to thank Larry for making this beautiful top for me, I know you were sort of challenged with the design, and still you were able to execute it even if it was based only on pictures I showed you.

Weird Taste

Friday, September 07, 2007

N was advised by the family dentist to use Sensodyne because he has sensitive teeth. I used to buy it's cool mint flavor, but when I saw the original flavor in the shelf, I was fascinated with the color which had a different pink hue. Little did I know that it had a different weird taste. When I flipped the lid, I was excited again because of the color, I just thought it had the refreshing bubble gum taste or something. The moment it landed in my mouth, it was a different story. I nearly vomitted, it tasted a little salty, I can't explain how weird it tastes really. Now I have to get used to it, no I can't throw it away and just buy the cool mint flavor. I don't want it wasted, moolah is hard to come by you know.

Indoor

Thursday, September 06, 2007

This is what N did to my bike, he converted it temporarily so I can "bike" indoor. I have not been biking at the Mall of Asia for how many months now, since I started taking care of the cooking here at home. Don't ask me if I've used it already, lol. You won't like my answer. Yes, I am a lazy bum, even forgetting about those weights I bought. But I realized I need to do it. Promise, tomorrow I'm gonna do it. You can check on me, yeah I like that, gives me the motivation to do it. Especially now, that I don't do anything but sit my butt out in front of the laptop. There are just certain areas in our body that need attention, and I can't get it all by doing belly dancing. Agree?

Priorities

Wednesday, September 05, 2007

I was sitting my butt out in front of the lappy waiting to grab some "bigtime" Opps. Yeah my eyes were really wide open, fingers busy refreshing the page every 5 seconds and soooooo excited. Who does not want to earn moolah anyway? My son came to the room to have his usual massage. And since his dad was already sleeping, he requested me to massage him instead. And I was like, nah, sorry I can't give you a massage tonight...not tonight baby...Mom's working! He was quite insistent, but I ignored him just the same. And I said something like, mommy's gonna earn big time here and I'm gonna give you 100 dollars if I get it. Bad mommy, tsk, tsk. Nope, he was not attracted to the green bucks but said, "Mom, you love me right? Are you not going to give your poor little boy the much needed massage? Are you replacing me with all that money you are talking about?" Ouch! OMG! Oh yeah, I did not think of that. All I was concerned about is grabbing the moolah. I am ashamed of myself, really. I gave him a massage right at that instant. And he was like apologetic for making me miss that chance. Funny how he said, "Never mind Mom, there will be a lot more chance of earning that 1k, but if it would be like 2 million, then suit yourself, go ahead and stay all night waiting for that opportunity."

You L.I.K.E.?

Friday, August 31, 2007

Since last week, I have been toying with the idea of having a new look. Yes I feel so bored. I look so plain and ugly. Finally today I had the time to make an appointment at Salon de Manila. Was suppose to have it at 1 in the afternoon, but some things came up. We were to have lunch at Bangus in Greenhills hosted by the eledest brother of N. I asked the salon if they can squeeze me at 4 pm, which they did, YAY!

I actually love my new look, but my SON does not like it at all. When he arrived from school and saw me, there was a quizzical look on his face. Before he could come over and kiss me, he said something like "Mom, it's not nice. You look like some kontrabida (villain) in one of the soaps in ABS." There goes my new look, nobody likes it except me =(

I Have it Back!

Wednesday, August 29, 2007

Remember the iPod Mini entry I posted two years ago? It's back! I can use it again, yay! My daughter Ish returned it finally after receiving an iPod Nano, as birthday present. I was actually thinking of buying an iPod Nano from the moolah I earned doing sposored posts, double yay, money still intact! Yes, I have not spent a single cent coz I have not thought of anything to buy except for that iPod thingy. Funny that up until now, I still don't have anything in mind on what to buy. Save Girl Save!

Thank You Rica!

Sunday, August 26, 2007

Saturday is my day off, I mean from cooking and all. I normally get to sleep until 11 in the morning and not worry about having nothing to eat. Afternoons are spent either going to the malls or watching a movie. Well I did not do that today, but instead allowed my 3 helpers to watch a movie. They were in a hurry to leave that they forgot about putting out meat from the freezer for dinner. It was already late that I realized we had nothing for dinner.

Good thing I remembered the pasta my girlfriend Rica told me about yesterday. So I went downstairs and started making it. Good thing I had all the ingredients, oh except for the olive oil which was not enough, so I just added unsalted butter. I didn't have fresh basil so I used the dried ones. And I made a little variation ^_^

Pasta with Shitake Mushroom:

angel hair pasta
olive oil
shitake mushroom (finely sliced)
lots and lots of fine minced garlic
fresh basil (can use dried)
anchovies (optional, for added flavor)
salt and pepper to taste
chili peppers (for Josh and Me)

So there! That's what we had for dinner! I didn't expect the kids to like it, but they did. My son even said "Mom, you make very good pasta!"

**Do you watch Celebrity Duets on GMA7? it's fun, my first time to watch and I pretty much enjoyed.**

Feminine Color

Thursday, August 23, 2007

I don't normally go for bloody red nail polish, but then I thought I could use some color to go with my gown during the birthday celebration of my FIL. So when we went to have our hair done at Salon de Manila, I decided to have my nails done too. Isha was soooo envious and wanted hers done too. But to achieve it, she needed fakies, bwaaaahhh. Anyways, I chose blardy red, at that time I found it sexy. But when I got home, guess who made the 1st comment? It was my son Josh. He said something like, "Hey Mom, I don't like the color of your nails...you could have used a more feminine color, say "fenk" (pink)." Heehee, that's how we say pink in this household - "fenk", and it tickles us "fenk" whenever we say that word!

15th Year

It seemed like only yesterday when I walked down the aisle, August 22, 1992 to be exact, gosh it's been 15 years...and still counting. Funny how I couldn't really remember anything that happened on that day except for one thing. While walking down the aisle, I saw empty pews, and I was like, oh no! nobody attended my wedding. And before I know it, the next time I looked, it was almost full. I think I was teary eyed...oh never mind...don't want to get mushy here ^_^

Anyway, it's been 15 years! We've had our share of ups and downs like everyone else, but i'm glad we've survived with God's wonderful grace. Now we have 2 wonderful kids, Isha and Josh (heehee as if you don't know), and we are striving on having a God centered happy family. I got 3 red roses from N and I like what he wrote in the card..."I'm very thankful to God because we are now 15 years together. I'm looking forward to spending the rest of my life with you. 'Til death do us part".

HS Classmates

Antonio, Aurea, Me, Richard, Jing & Arlyn

I had a meeting with my high school classmates at Cafe Breton last saturday. It was nice seeing them again. We don't see each other regularly because of our busy schedules and of course family life. So this is really a rare opportunity that I made it a point to attend. It was supposed to be a quick meeting, but you know how it is when you see each other especially if you haven't seen each other for a long time. Updating here and there, we had our own stories to tell. Anyways, the purpose of the meeting is to discuss the incoming 25th Batch Reunion which will be held in February 2008. We discussed how we could help financially to support some projects of our batch. It was a fruitful meeting and we were able to come up with something. Again, nice seeing you guys and hope to see more of you often.

Excitement

Tuesday, August 14, 2007

Excitement can be felt in this household. On Friday, August 17, 2007, we will be celebrating my father-in-law's 90th birthday. A man of few words but very generous in love. Nobody believes that he is turning 90, he is very able, very strong and can still walk miles. He is daring! He took the Jurassic Ride with us 2 years ago at Univeral Studios. And would you believe, he supervised everything when we built our house. He is a frustrated architect/engineer. And up to now he still builds, he says that he can't stay home and do nothing, he feels sick. He feels happy when he's up and about.

Anyhoo, we (Ish and me) both liked what we will wear on this special occassion. I surfed the net for some design ideas and I'm happy that the couturier was able to make it the way we like it. Thank you Larry.

Oopsie! Don't Mind Me!

Saturday, August 11, 2007

I've been actually thinking that at age 41 I shouldn't be dressing up this way. I should be in linen tops and bottoms, hair tied in a bun, but what the heck, this is me! So what if at my age I wanna look like this? IMHO, I can still get away with it...hhhmmmm

External Hard Disk

Wednesday, August 01, 2007

I have learned my lesson well. Since my laptop crashed, N thought of giving me his old fujitsu hard disk which he hasn't been using. It's quite bulky in its own casing, so he thought of putting it in another case, a generic 250 php ibm case. I need this badly even though I have 80 gig installed in my laptop. I don't like losing all my photos and files anymore. Yes, that's what happened when my laptop crashed. But i'm not that sad though, coz I was able to upload some pix at Flickr and RockYou - thank you! Read the rest HERE .

He Says I'm a SuperMom

Monday, July 02, 2007

Nelson's all praises, he says i'm a super mom! Having to wake up at 5 in the morning, assist the kids as they prepare for school, bring them to school, come home to prepare food for lunch, bring lunch to school, come home to cook dinner, be at school by 4 in the afternoon to fetch them and bring them to their chinese tutor. Well, that has been my life for 10 days now. I thought I couldn't manage just by the thought of it, I thought i'm gonna lose some weight, but heck no! in fact I think I've added a pound or two, I thought I wouldn't have time to blog, but here I am posting at least every other day ^_^ I think it's just proper time management, and how you look at things. I did not do all these with a heavy heart, but of course I'm counting the days until my "angels" arrive, and it seems like eternity already, harhar!

The joys of being a mother...

I think I know the reason why I am enjoying right now despite not having my 2 yayas (nanny) with me. I don't really know how to cook (filipino dishes), yeah sue me...and I will bribe you with pasta dishes and cookies. Those are my two specialties. But I tried my best really with the aid of a cookbook (3 different ones) and the internet and of course my Mom. I was able to whip some "gourmet" treats to feed the family. I call it treats because I cook only on special occassions like Christmas and New Year. My kids including N enjoyed everything I prepared for them, I got never ending "Mom, it really really tastes good! Can you cook it again next week?" Of course hearing all these, I couldn't help but feel elated! Yes, I'm flying high! ... and will be flying low soon...the bottomline, they want me to be the official cook in this house! Bwaaaaaahhhhhh.... ^_^

How I Spent My Week

Monday, April 09, 2007

We normally spend Holy Week at home...it's all you can sleep time (without feeling guilty, without feeling like a bum), anyone can be LAZY, anyone can stay LATE at night each doing his/her own thing.

1. I was able to cook pasta (Tomato, Cream & Cheese and Puttanesca Sauces) and they loved it.
2. I thought I finished the series Gilmore Girls. The season 7 dvd contained only 10 episodes...bummer!
3. Watched Memoirs of Geisha (don't have anything to do)
4. Had dinner at my in-laws, brought my version of chicken inasal for them to taste, and cooked garlic rice to go with the chicken.
5. Had our usual Good Friday Coffee Night at starbucks with the gang.
6. Attended Easter Service, then had Easter lunch over at my parents' house.
7. Was suppose to watch a movie to culminate the week, but lazy bones still =(

Attempts

Tuesday, December 19, 2006

These are the two struggles I'm facing right now, and I admit it's pretty hard. I started smoking fourteen years ago, on the day I married N. It was like..."sweet, can you light me one please?"...until I learned how to light my own. I didn't like it at first, but just like everyone, I got hooked to it little by little. I've had a few attempts at quitting, when I was operated on in the mouth, had severe cough, and if I start catching my breath. But all these lasted for only two weeks, and here I am back to it again. Two days ago, I decided again to quit, I felt that I couldn't handle the effects of smoking anymore, with just very little activity, I find myself catching my breath, and I get a little dizzy when I start to puff. So this made me decide to try quitting again. Since I started kicking this one bad habit, I might as well kick the other bad habit, that is, sleeping late at night. I normally sleep between 1 or 2 in the morning. I always pinpoint being an insomniac when asked why I sleep that late. But the truth is something is soooo wrong with my body clock and it has adopted to that setting, sleeping at two in the morning and waking up at nine or ten in the morning. It has gotten sooo used to that, that I find it hard to sleep before 12 midnight.

I know I am in the most difficult situation right now...so far I've proven myself for two days and still counting **keeps fingers crossed**, I'm positive that I can do all these by God's grace. Check on me once in a while ok? so I won't forget =)
