Gold Vs. Silver
Friday, May 21, 2010
I was this close to accepting SIL's invitation. But when I think about the distance, this makes me think twice. You see my gym now is just a 5-minute drive from our house, while Gold's Gym is about 20-30 minutes depending on the traffic. Gold's Gym is situated in an area where there are lots of restaurants, and a few minutes away from the mall. This means that I might be spending more not only on gas but on food and what not. This is what made me decide to stick to my old gym. I will just bring a laundry clip to put on my nose to avoid the bad smell.

Analog Soul designs for Yo!Noy campaign

Analog Soul is a Filipino retail clothing and accessories company that embraces the creativity and eclectic side of the generation today. It prides itself in having a brand that provides customers as well as the artists an avenue to express themselves. This time, through their partnership with Yo!Noy, it has allowed its brand to be a vehicle of expression of the group.
Yo!Noy or Youth for Noy is a group set up by the younger generation of the Aquino family, headed by Bam Aquino, Jonty Cruz, and other youth leaders. It is an umbrella organization for youth groups across the nation to support and campaign for Senator NoyNoy Aquino. The founders consider the name as the best way to not only distinctly associate themselves with the youth, but to show that they are standing up, speaking up, and showing their support.
How does Analog Soul fit in all this?
“Analog Soul is one of the finest youth brands out today. We tapped their help as part of our goal to spread awareness. We asked the retail clothing brand to design and sell shirts centering on Yo!Noy and Senator Aquino,” starts Jonty Cruz, one of the Yo!Noy’s founders.
Migs Naguiat, Analog Soul owner, narrates, “Our partnership came about when we did a collaboration between the Benigno Aquino Foundation with IAmNinoy and IAmCory movement. Yo!Noy asked us to create a design for the youth campaign for their ‘Tito Noy’ that is in Analog Soul style.”
“Analog Soul prides itself in being an advocate of expression especially for the youth. We support the young generation to be vocal and exercise their voices, making them heard. With the election coming up, and with the initiatives of Yo!Noy, it is only evident that youth now have their “say” in what’s happening. Whether we go for a certain candidate or the other, as long as we have an opinion and we will exercise our right as members of society – that is what we hope to achieve,” Naguiat emphasized.
When you hit the stores, you will see that there are two designs that resulted from this partnership. Both were developed by Naguiat’s colleague and co-owner Paolo Lim. Who would not recognize the laban sign and the yellow ribbon? Both have become to be symbols of passion and action that are now etched into the psyche of the Filipinos. Analog Soul only gave it a youthful twist to fit Yo!Noy’s personality and the campaign. From the modern laban sign which clearly evokes the spirit of EDSA and the passion we, Filipinos, all have, and the excellent typography design of Senator Aquino’s image that just inspires action, the designs of Analog Soul really hit the mark.
Collaboration – this is how Cruz sees it. “Everyone at Analog Soul gave it their all. They listened and took in our inputs and comments, but the final output was more than we could have expected! They were nothing short of amazing,” he shared.
All Yo!Noy Analog Soul shirts are available in Analog Stores at Archeology, Rockwell Center, at the Ramp (Glorietta 4), and Trinoma. For more information on Analog Soul and visit Analog Soul at www.analog-soul.com.

He Gets My Vote
Monday, April 26, 2010
I am going to vote for him. I am definite about it. Honestly it's my first time to vote in our District so I am really clueless on who to vote locally. I registered with the Comelec in September of last year, and when I checked online I was not in the database. I was suppose to go and check with the office just to find out where my polling place is. Thanks to Mr. Alex Herrera, I don't need to do it already. Yeah, he gets my vote!

supplements. I gave it some thought, but then again I have to do more readings on it. I need to talk to someone who's used it and probably consult my doctor first. Yeah this is the best thing to do before going into something, especially if it's health related.

Roadtrip: Anvaya Cove

MIL celebrates her 68th birthday with a series of roadtrip. Anvaya Cove was the first leg. We left Manila a bit late already because the kids had to do finish some requirements in school. It took us a little over 2 hours to get to Subic. We had lunch at Teriyaki Boy first before proceeding to Anvaya Cove. It's a second for me and the hubs at Anvaya, and the first for the kids. Like us, they enjoyed so much. It was fun swimming in the beach, and it was nice lounging around the pool too. Nope, no tan lines for us since we got to the place pretty late, the sun was not harsh enough to produce tan lines in our bodies. Good if I may say since it's not really good to stay under the sun. Yeah I know, going to the beach is not complete without those tan lines/sunburn. Probably next time then, but no, we are scared to get skin CA.
*more stories to come - we did 3 legs.

Not So Typical Sunday
Typical is that we had lunch over at Mom's. As usual food was superb, nothing fancy but very filling. I had my veggie fix which I look forward to every Sunday we have lunch at Mom's. I missed Mom, we didn't visit her for two weeks since we were out on vacation. I miss the laughs and I am looking forward to never ending laughs when my sisters from the US get here. I wish I can stay with them during the duration of their stay, but, but I have a family to take care of. I'll just go and visit whenever I can.
Not so typical because instead of having dinner at the in-laws we ate at Thousand Cranes at Trinoma. Kuya A arrived from the US and the family treated him out for dinner. Another not so typical is the fact that we watched a movie (LFS) after dinner. Kick-Ass was fun, someone let out a scared shout (epic fail) in one of the scenes which I really didn't understand because nothing was scary about the movie. Probably too excited and got the house down.
Decorating your child’s room in an airplane theme
Friday, April 16, 2010
Last year I took him to the local air show where he saw planes from world war II, he saw a bomber plane that was used to bomb Berlin and a bunch of transport planes, and he even saw some modern planes. But I think his favorite was the fighter planes that looked like they had shark teeth painted on the front near the propeller. He had such a great time that I vowed to make the air show a yearly event at minimum.
When it came time to redo his bedroom, I got the idea to make over the room in an airplane theme while he was at his grandma’s house for a week. I found these great airplane ceiling fans that I knew he would love. I finally settled on a fan that is called a warbird ceiling fan. It looked almost exactly like the front of the same fighter plane that my son had really liked at the air show.
The next item I chose was an awesome bed that looked like the red baron fighter plane, which is actually a biplane. I topped the bed off with an airplane spread and sheet set and called it good.
For the walls I decided to get creative. I started with a base of sky blue which I painted white clouds. Then I used this really cool stencil of a little airplane and strategically placed them around the room.
For the capper I found some airplane mobiles to hang from the ceiling to match the Airplane Ceiling Fan , oh and I also found a floor rug (we have hardwood floors) that is blue with clouds and about 6 planes flying around on it.
When he got back home he was on a cloud and I had an ear to ear grin. He hugged me for a really long time and told me that I was the coolest dad in the world. I only hope that when he reaches the teen years that he remembers this day.

Knitting Project: Leaf Pattern
Tuesday, April 06, 2010

Like I mentioned, the sisters from the US are arriving. In order to save on shipping cost, I'm working on this scarf (and many more hopefully) to give to one of them. I've done two already for my niece and again hoping to do another one. Lace patterns are kinda hard to make in the sense that I need to look at the pattern all the time. I'm not that young to be able to memorize it :P Probably if knitting was my life, then I'd be able to do that. I'm still thankful that I am able to get through some of the patterns to think I only learned how to knit watching youtube vids, tutorials of sorts.

I can't wait for the sisters to arrive. I want to wear that to my aerobics class especially that it's getting hotter and hotter each day. I don't like wearing yoga pants anymore. I saw that French Terry Bermuda Old Navy website. Yeah it's for girls but I got their plus size. I'm not that fat really, since I lost something like 8 pounds already since I joined aerobics class a month ago. It's fun and I'm loving every minute of it. I used to do it like 12 sessions per month but now I do it Mondays thru Fridays. That's how I love my fitness thing now. I hope you'd be able to join a fitness thingy that you really love. Exercise is very important to our health, it's not just because you want to lose weight or anything.

Florals

First attempt was a failure. I am talking about nail art stamping. I bought my Konad nail art paraphernalia at Las Vegas in 2005. I don't remember if I was able to use it before, but more or less I have not. Probably I didn't know how to use it properly that I ended up doing free hand out of frustration. SIL bought her own set of Konad and I just had to learn how to use it properly otherwise our money will all be gone to waste and that is just sad. So when I was successful in stamping my fingernails with those beautiful blue flowers I immediately sent her a text message telling her not to be sad anymore coz I already know how to use it. I admit I still need to practice more which I will.

Honesty
Anyway while I was in front of the computer reading my mails, I got so happy that I blurted out a gasp. Both my children looked at me surprised. I told them that I was just extremely happy because I had a lot of writing jobs to finish. And my son suddenly said, "Hey Mom, that is the hundred fold from the One hundred pesos." I praise God for that testimony. My son saw first hand the rewards of being honest and true.

Long or Short
Monday, March 15, 2010

I miss having long hair and what do you know? Instant long hair. I actually had a hard time deciding whether to get it or not. My first concern was the color. My hair color is now dark brown, it's a bit dark for the brown extension and a bit light for the black extension. I was thinking of coloring my hair light brown, but then again even if how much I want it, it just can't be. I'm using henna and I learned that once you use henna it's hard to change the color anymore, unless you bleach it. Well I don't want to go to that extent anymore, it's just too harsh for my hair at the moment. Second, I was thinking that it would be too obvious with the length of my hair now and the cut is too straight. I think hair extensions wouldn't be so obvious if you have layered hair. Hhmm, those two didn't stop me from buying plus the fact that everyone was saying, "Oh it fits you!" They sounded so convincing so I ended up buying it. It's human hair by the way, you can use it straight or you can curl it. That's the beauty of using human hair.

Salad Once a Week

I serve the family salad once a week. I'm glad that I have trained the kids to eat salad. It's not really common to be serving salad on the Filipino table. I don't know, but to us it's not. Anyway what started this thing is our consciousness to stay fit and healthy. We all know that veggies more than anything else is the healthiest to eat. I want it included in my family's diet. So far so good, they've been eating! The problem is I need to serve it with different dressings. I constantly look for yummy dressings in the internet and sometimes I invent my own especially when one of the ingredients is not available. What you see in the photo is an adaptation of the Thai salad. My son says it has an exotic taste referring to the dressing probably ^_^

Hair Length

My hair was past my shoulders already (bra line) when I decided to have it cut. I don't know but whenever I'm bothered with something (a problem)it's usually my hair that suffers. I cut it really really short. But not this time. I had it cut to this length since I haven't sported short hair in a long time. I did it gradually. I wasn't contented with that length that after 2 weeks I had it cut again, this time to a shorter one and a different style. I had bangs.

Two weeks after the major cut, it looked something like that. Now I'm starting to grow it again so more or less I look something like what you see in the first picture. Now the question, have I fully recovered from my problem for me to start growing my hair? My answer is YES! It may not be positive to others but to me it is!
Is Your Business Insured?
Going back to the renewal of business permits, you are required to get insurance otherwise you can't get your permit. I just wished that the kind of insurance we have is the same or if not similar to this business insurance. But sad to say it's not. I think business owners do not really mind paying a bigger amount as long as what they pay for is worth it. To me the insurance we have here is a waste of money.

My Perfect Companion

You are my perfect companion in my campaign to work on my abs. It's been a problem for more than a decade already. I keep promising that I'd start working on it, but after a few days, I get lazy. And look what I have become, 17 pounds heavier. I look good despite the weight gain, but it all went to the wrong places if you know what I mean. Nobody wants a bulging stomach and I just hate the fact that I have it. I have to work double time if I want it a little flat, not super flat, but just a little flatter.

Gray Sandals

Isn't it pretty? Oh forget about the foot, it's the footwear I am talking about. I saw that on our way to Church one Sunday. But I first went to attend the Sunday Service before going down to purchase it. And you know what's good about it? It's dirt cheap. Got it only for about Two hundred fifty pesos, and that's roughly a little above five dollars. I've actually learned my lesson. I'm no longer buying expensive footwear, it gets destroyed over time especially if you don't get to wear it often.
